2024 Valentine Day Crafts

Last year I posted on how simple and easy it is to make Valentine crafts. This year, I’m making valentines again and sharing the different mediums I use, all bits and pieces of crafting materials left over from other projects. All the hearts are two-sided with designs on both sides. Some I will be mailing, others, I’ll attach to a candy box. The fun part is creating and sharing and making the day just a bit more heartfelt and special.

These hearts are made from felt and material. I added the trim across the front which is great for slipping in a note or a piece of chocolate. The little envelopes are made from the shape of a heart which you can also tuck in your sentiment before sealing. The flower is felt and lace. I did an easy slip stitch around the edge and added Poly-Fil to give the heart fullness.

Next, I experimented with brown paper bags as my base. These I call my bird, bees, and butterfly hearts. I used Mod Podge and paper napkins, stitched the two sides together, and added just a little Poly-Fil to give them a slightly puffy feel. These could be mailed as they are not as bulky as the felt and material hearts.

Next, I worked with various materials and made flat hearts. I used cutouts from magazines, napkins, felt, lace, and a doily and used Mod Podge to adhere to the paper bag heart form. These are perfect for mailing.

You can also gussy up your envelopes. I love to add texture to the envelopes as you can see that lace, pictures, or even a slip stitch trim can be added.

These are so much fun to make. Just use your imagination, whatever you have handy, and start creating. I’m already thinking about some more styles!
