Artificial Intelligence (AI)
I admit, I am divided on the use of AI. We have had several presentations at work on how AI can streamline and assist in the probability of predictiveness in situations which can speed up the decision process. There’s an Army Future’s Command with an Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C) which specializes in leveraging AI for the Army Modernization Enterprise. All great things for staying ahead of our adversaries.
I used AI to answer a question on what SKYWAF France 1954 meant. I discovered that SKYWAF stands for Sky-Wave Adaptive Framework which is a technology used in the field of wireless communication. It is designed to optimize and adapt the transmission of signals via sky-wave propagation, particularly for long-distance communications using radio waves that are reflected off the ionosphere.
SKYWAF France 1954 refers to an alleged UFO sighting incident in France in 1954. It was reported on October 16, 1954, that numerous witnesses across France claimed to have seen a large luminous object in the sky, what some interpreted as a UFO.
Using AI satisfied my curiosity however it can also be used to write stories and develop thoughts for you without you doing the thinking. That’s where I have the problem. Are we losing originality by using AI?
Imagine if our great authors used AI to write their stories. Ernest Hemingway wants to write a story about an elderly man wanting to catch the big fish and he types in a few phrases of what he’s looking for and out pops “The Old Man and the Sea”. Would the same emotion come through in his book as Hemingway was able to convey when describing the old man’s struggles and his inability to give up once the big fish was hooked? Several authors have been vocal about the use of AI because their originality and writings are being used by others to create new stories.
I want to use my brain as long as I can to think for myself and be creative in my writing. I don’t mind a correction for misspelled words but I want the final product to be reflective of ME!
After all, Artificial Intelligence is only a compilation of real intelligence that has been stored in a virtual environment.
