I’m a product of the ’50s, so when we rolled over into the ’60s, I was a teenager & that became my impression-making decade.    The music was the best because you could understand the words.  The singers didn’t look like they had just got out of bed & dressed in the first garment they found.

The men wore matching suits & the ladies had dresses that covered their body parts.  Their stage routine was choreographed with some dance moves & they had to sing because they did not have all the fancy musical equipment the performers have today.

I continue to like the Oldies station & my favorite groups are The Righteous Brothers, The Temptations, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons & of course, anything Elvis.  Who doesn’t get a bit nostalgic when they hear “Unchained Melody,” “My Girl,” or “Can’t Help Falling in Love”?   These were dating songs & reminders of good times.

There are still some oldies in me & reminders of a decade when life was not so complicated.  I didn’t know it then, but growing up in a small rural community was a good life.  No, it wasn’t good; it was the best.

I would love to get a van, toss in the cats & hit the open road.  We would find an oldies station & sing along & recapture some of that lost youth.  After all, I haven’t “Lost that Loving Feeling” just yet!
