Cummer Museum
The Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens is the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida. The Cummer was established in 1958, when art collector, garden enthusiast, & civic leader Ninah Cummer bequeathed her art collection & riverfront home to create a museum. And it’s only one mile from my house.
There is a static art collection, & several times a year, there are special showings & events. Today, I went to see their extraordinary garden topiary menagerie, which was all things Flamingos. The gardens were beautiful & the weather has been perfect for bringing out the spring color.
Indoors was a unique art light display which was another special art exhibition.
The shadows & reflections were similar to the Van Gogh art presentation, creating a surrounding the room display of light.
It was an enjoyable experience & a perfect day. Ms. Cummer’s generosity in her home & art has made it possible for everyone to enjoy. Thank you, Ninah!
