Flower Pot Makeover
I’ve had these flower pots for several years, and they sat outside with ferns until they started looking overgrown & no longer pretty. I took out the ferns a while back & then the pots sat for a long time with nothing in them.
The empty pots had weathered to the point that a makeover was needed, so I decided to break out the paint and get to it. On the right, you see the original reddish color & on the left side, you can see where I started painting.
When I started, I wasn’t sure exactly what I planned to do, so I let the paint take me wherever it wanted; sometimes, that was on me & the kitchen counter 🤗.
The color is Hydrangea Kiss & I bought it at Dipsy Doodle Antiques in Dahlonega. I’ve done a few projects with this color & I like it.
I found an acrylic lacquer spray at Lowe’s, which should protect the paint finish since the pots will sit outdoors. If not, it’s no loss; I was going to take the pots to Goodwill anyway, but this gives them a little life & brightens up the porch for another season!
Now to decide what plants to go in them, I want to try Gardenias, but I’ll have to give that more thought!
Gardenias would be a lovely addition to my newly made-over pots, but they can be finicky and prone to pests and diseases. They need partial shade or filtered sunlight as they are sensitive to direct sunlight and may develop leaf burn.
They also prefer moist, well-drained soil, consistent watering, and acidic soil, so we’ll see!
