For Frosty – April 18, 2023
There are many versions of Rainbow Bridge, and the origin is unclear. This is my favorite.
By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill, is a lush green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next, is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play, till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care, until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past, the time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever, and then, side by side, they cross over…together.
Frosty, if you are still close enough to hear me, know that you were and are loved beyond measure.

Frosty was so sweet and I know his fellow kitties miss him. He was so lucky to have been adopted by the two of you.

Thank you Patricia. The other two keep looking for him. They don’t understand why he’s not joining them to sun on the porch or be found in his favorite napping spots. Frosty was the perfect cat. He was so gentle, loved your lap, & craved companionship. We miss our little guy.😢

Dr. Helvie, we always appreciated your taking care of Frosty. He needed care when we rescued him from the street, & it continued with his FIV & inability to keep fighting off his health issues. We never knew how old he was when we took him in but we gave him 7 years of love and care and likely that was 7 years more than he would have had if we had not taken him into our home. Frosty had a personality that definitely left a mark on our hearts. Thank you for your kind note.

Frosty was a special one…. I had to see him unfortunately too often but it was a pleasure to take care of him. He will be missed.
