Ginger Cats

I received my first holiday gift of the season. My own “sippy cup” with a sweet Christmas ginger cat motif. This was made and gifted to me by one of my co-workers, and I love it. There’s always a story, and my ginger cat gift also has a story behind it.
I’m a people and personality observer, and many times, I find my thoughts comparing people’s behavior or mannerisms to animals. Usually, dogs or cats, but I have ventured off into birds and sometimes undomesticated ones like alligators or bears.
For example, I am a bi-polar animal, both of which have dominant traits. I’m a border collie because I keep tabs on the herd, ensure things stay organized and in their place, and when one of the herd wanders off, I round it up and bring it back to where it needs to be. Other times, I’m a curious, playful cat who finds fun in the simple things and likes to spend time lazing around in a sunny, comfortable spot.
In my work position, I have the opportunity to provide comments at various functions, and we recently had a retirement farewell for our Commander. Our Commander was a highly energetic and personable individual. He never failed to recognize people and always maintained a calm demeanor even when faced with challenging issues. He also had red hair and a complexion that goes along with a true redhead.
Woven into my other comments about him were these:
“You all know that I’m very fond of cats, and I like red, particularly red hair. So, if someone asked me to describe some characteristics of the Commander, I would say that he is like a Ginger Cat.
To describe someone as a ginger cat, you might say they have a vibrant, warm personality, much like the striking orange fur of a ginger cat. They exude a playful and curious nature, often bringing a sense of joy and energy to their surroundings. Their affectionate demeanor makes them approachable, and their independent streak showcases a confident spirit. Just like a ginger cat, they have a unique charm that draws people in, making them hard to resist.
That’s how I see the Commander. A confident person, has a warm personality, is approachable, and brings a sense of joy and energy to those around him.”
My comments were not forgotten by the audience, and therefore, the gift with the picture of a sweet ginger cat.
By the way, I see my friend who gave me the gift as a labrador retriever. She is kind, gentle, and has an affectionate, friendly nature. She gets on well with people and other animals alike, and she never meets a stranger. She is always ready to make new friends.
What animal would describe you?
