Holiday Transition
I live in two houses, but the one where I spend the most time is a small cottage in Jacksonville, FL, built in 1938. At some point, I’ll write more about it but know that in 1938 the closet & storage requirements were not the same as they are today. That’s why I have to be creative regarding what I keep, eliminate, or decide on how to reuse.
My Christmas wreath needed a decision. I looked at the colors (a lot of red) & what I had on hand in my craft supplies & determined that a make-over would get it through February. I did like the buffalo check ribbon, it worked for the holidays, but wanted to change that out. I did have to save the small checked pieces because they were used to keep the red mesh ribbon in place.
I cut some of the mesh away from the center & inserted some hearts to fill out that area. They’re not that visible in this picture but there are 3 hearts in the middle of the wreath. I also had pink mesh ribbon which I used & the pink took it from a primary Christmas look to a Valentine’s Day look.
The hot glue gun helped shape hearts from some flexible beads & for adding some felt hearts, both of which I already had on hand. At the end of February, the decision will be made, & likely this wreath will go in the donate box & I’ll start looking now for supplies that will take me into spring.
