My Jacksonville Neighborhood
I live in one of only two historic areas in Jacksonville. Springfield is one, and Riverside is the other. I am in Riverside, an eclectic blend of different architectural styles, single homes, apartments, duplexes, and businesses. I can walk to just about any medical or professional need I require.
Since there’s such a variety, the neighborhood also has oddities of people, places, and things. This weekend I did some walking and captured a few pictures to share.
This is wall art on the outside of a storefront. There are little bits and pieces of different things and the outline of a number five. I’m not sure what the five stands for as it doesn’t coincide with the store or address; maybe it refers to 5 points, which this area within Riverside is called!
I could use some soul reading. This store also carries lots of incense (I could smell it on the sidewalk) and other things like crystals to help you get in touch with your inner psyche.
I love this big face pot. I would like to have one in my yard or on the porch.
This window display was across the street from the Baptist Church. You can see the church reflection in the store window. The sign says “See you in 2024” but I say no need to wait. I can see all of you now!
This gratitude sign had a variety of buttons and pins glued around the frame.
Eventually, I made it to the St John’s River and witnessed the natural beauty. I appreciate my community and all the little and big things that make it special. My walk back home took on a lot more meaning.
