Pancake Update

Pancake on Couch

It’s been a busy and stressful week taking Pancake to get her wellness check.    I had noticed a change in her sleeping habits over the past few weeks.   She wanted to get under things instead of sleeping with me at night.  I also had the AC issue and thought that a warmer house was why she ignored me.

Habit changes are generally signs of something going on, so this past Saturday, I took her to my local veterinarian.  During her checkup, he felt a “mass” in her tummy area, took an x-ray to confirm what he felt, and informed me it was cancer.  He didn’t give me a treatment plan; he just told me to take her home and love her.

I had a friend who told me about SEVO.  It’s a clinic specializing in cancer for dogs and cats, so I got an appointment and took Pancake in for a second opinion.

SEVO

I loved the welcoming sign, and they called me Mom when asking me questions about Pancake.  The Dr. took a sonogram and confirmed that Pancake had cancer in her small intestines.  Surgery is not an option because of her age and her heart murmur.

The Dr. did give me liquid prednisone, which based on the type of cancer, could help.  So Pancake gets a dropper every morning and continues eating, napping, and sitting on my lap.  She is getting plenty of food, and I open a fresh package each time she goes to her bowl.

My outdoor cats love all the leftovers 🥰.  Pancake and I are having plenty of together time, and although she was already spoiled, it’s a whole lot more now.🐈‍⬛🐾❤️. My sweet girl gets whatever she wants.

I’ll continue to update you as we continue on this journey.
