St. Patrick’s Day

Pancake on St. Patrick's Day

Top ‘o’ the Morning to ya!

Pancake and I look for any opportunity to have a celebration.  We are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day because of our Norman-Irish surname Fagan.  Pancake is a natural-born Irish girl.

I got my Irishness thru a married name.  (I have a Spanish last name now, so please know I will also celebrate Cinco de Mayo).  I don’t know much about the Irish family history, but I was told that the Fagan family ancestors did immigrate to the United States from Ireland.

The luck of the Irish and all things green are celebrated on St. Patrick’s Day, 17 March, every year. Initially, this was a day to honor St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but over time the holiday has evolved into a festive celebration of Irish culture.

I enjoy the tradition of St. Patrick’s Day and the silliness.  There is a feeling of frivolity and fun, and everything “goes green” for the day.

According to “google,” leprechauns are one reason you should wear green on St. Patrick’s Day or risk getting pinched!  The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see.  Pancake and I aren’t taking any chances to risk getting pinched.

St. Patricks Day Leprechaun

We wish you all the luck of the Irish on this St. Patrick’s Day, and as the Irish blessing says:

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

The rains fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

We hope you find lots ‘o’ gold at the end of your rainbow, that you always look good in green, and enjoy a great and blessed Irish day.
