Sunday Sewing

Sundays are my day to do ME things. That is my time to be creative and make stuff. Sometimes I cook, sometimes I write, sometimes I paint, sometimes I craft, and sometimes I sew. It all depends on the mood I’m in.
I always have thoughts of things I want to make and today it was a morning dress. Something I could put on while having my coffee before I dress for leaving the house.
I sew a lot by hand but this project was more labor intensive and since today was gloomy and rainy, it was a perfect time to get out the sewing machine.
It has been years since I have bought material from the store. I find a lot of workable pieces at Goodwill or thrift stores and I remake them. I like to recreate and put a new life into something someone didn’t want anymore.
The top shirt is 100 percent linen and I got it for $1.00. It would have made a great beach cover-up, but this girl does not frequent the beach. The bottom is from a cotton skirt, again got it at Goodwill. I liked the skirt, but I had worn it several times and wanted to do something different with it. The little back ruffle is from the skirt’s waistband.
I really do like to work with fabrics and I always notice the details on clothes because the details take a lot of work and time. It saddens me to see that artistry in clothes is not valued anymore. Everything is wash and wear.
If you stop by some morning to have coffee with me, you may find me in my morning dress. And, if it’s a really lazy day, the morning dress may still be on in the afternoon. 🥰
