Thrifting
Every Saturday in town, I go to a local consignment place called Southern Crossing. In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that thrifting was something I did with my Mom & this outing has continued. I love a Goodwill or thrift store, as thrifting is one of my favorite pastimes.
Southern Crossing is a prominent place & after seven years, I know the layout quite well, but it still takes me about an hour to mosey thru. Sometimes I will find a booth with a chair & “sit a spell” to energize before moving on. The store combines old, new, vintage, antiques, furniture, clothes, and shoes; you name it.
Since the end of the year, most booths were reduced by 50 or 75%. That makes it enticing to take home a treasure. I found quite a bit yesterday, but I will share with you three things that were a great bargain.
First is this gorgeous chenille bedspread. It is light yellow & came with two pillow shams. I have wanted a chenille spread for a long time because chenille is a reminder of growing up. The spread was 50% off & cost $17.00. I will purchase extra pillows for the shams.
My next find was this translucent plate. When you hold it up to the light, it is seen thru. The plate was $1.00. I may put it on a stand before a candle or light to bring out the luminescence.
My next find was this gorgeous pair of gloves. The gloves came with a scarf & hat, which I didn’t need, but all three pieces were only $2.50. I can re-donate the hat & scarf.
So those were my take-home finds from Saturday. It was a good day!
Happy Thrifting!
