Vintage
I love the word vintage. If you look up the word, the first definition has to do with grapes and winemaking. I like that also, but the secondary meaning is about items such as clothing made during an era in time. I’m a vintage girl. I enjoy the fashions, fabrics, and reusing/restyling my finds for current use.
I shop a lot at antique and thrift stores where you can find embroidered pieces, lace, and old buttons. These can be used for trim or adding some change to a piece of clothing to make it a little different from the ordinary.
I found a sweet table runner that had this adorable cat embroidered on both ends. I halved the runner and used one end to decorate the back of this jacket.
The lace around the bottom of the jacket was vintage and I brought the lace design around to the front.
The pocket material and buttons were from other projects. I used the other end of the runner to redesign a sweater.
I also found this beautiful pillowcase. I haven’t decided what I will do with it. Maybe put it on a pillow but I’m sure there’s a perfect use just waiting to be discovered.
I did not appreciate handwork when I was younger but now I value the time, effort, and patience that went into creating these lovely items.
I am of an era in time. I am handmade. I am vintage and I love it.
